One was due to hurricane Sandy shutting down my hospital for a few days, and another three days was when I needed a blood transfusion, hydration, and was hospitalized. Extra days were tacked on for 6 days a week rads, and an extra week added then was originally planned. Of course I had a recurrence, and makes you wonder.

Im surprised your facility offered you one as its not normal procedure. Many of us have skipped a day or 2 during rads only to make them up at the end. Glad to hear you are going right thru to the finish line! You are doing so much better than I did!!! I missed those days but made up with it for by doing two double sessions. The same week!!!!! I was extra crispy. But I was glad I didn't have to do it longer and glad they double dosed me. I'm a sucker for punishment -

I guess they'll add it on to the end. 11/18 . 9 more rads. 2 more Erbitux, ends 11/19. My neck has become raw and burns quite a bit. I started using The silver sulfadazine last night, 3x a day. It seems to work some, but I still have some burning. I've sprayed some water mixed with lidocain on it. That seems to work well for now. I'm also getting the outbreak that comes with the Erbitux mixed in at the bottom of my neck and down my chest. My MO said this is a good thing. The Erbitux is working. They gave me creams for that too. I'm just going to tough it out for the next 2 weeks +. Thanks all for your support, Calhoun

It was doctor day and they decided my neck had an infection along with heavy burning. They put me on antibiotics and I have been using the silver sulf. cream. I went in for chemo on tues. and they said they didn't want to give me any this week either. I have broken out with the rash that comes with the Erbitux and it has mixed in with the skin on my neck. Everything is healing enough for me. We will finish all this next week. I hope this interruption won't be too detrimental to the outcome of my treatment. I guess will just have to wait and see....Should they add on more rads?

For the days you missed they may make them up at the end or 6th day a week. You may want to ask. Good luck.

Take the antibiotics, keep the area clean - I am assuming they are continuing the rads just giving you a break from the Erbitux? It's okay to miss a chemo - some of us do. I missed a bag. Plus with Erbitux since it works differently than standard chemo I believe they can make up the dose post treatment. The only reason I could see them giving you more rads would be if there is still cancer present. If you miss a rad treatment they should of course make it up. Hugs and keep on trucking.

Pat it on several times per day and let it soak in. Never apply the cream prior to going for rads. If you have missed any rads they probably will be added to the end. Missing chemo shouldnt be made up, but you never know. Ask your doc or nurses what the plan is. I'm feeling pretty good and my throat felt as if it was healing enough to start eating more. Then a couple of days ago the rash from the Erbitux returned and my throat and mouth worsened. My last chemo was 11/19, 3 days before the end of RAD. Is this just what I can expect in the 3 weeks after treatment? I know it's early but it doesn't seem like my mouth, tongue and throat are healing much. I'm sure I'm just being impatient. It's been an experience. I appreciate all the helpful input. OFC has made this whole journey that much easier to deal with, Thank you all.
