I have not posted a lot but continue to be an avid reader of the information and experiences from others which has been a great help - so a quick thanks to all who frequently share their wisdom, experience and positive thoughts.

i am 10+ weeks out of Tx and have done well physically. Taking a little time to get off the PEG due saliva, taste and finding enough foods to get enough calories but I will get there. I do have one major concern causing some anxiety which is a persistent cough that started 2+ weeks ago.. I had a similar cough prior to my original diagnosis which is the cause of the anxiety - wondering if all was successful or is there a secondary starting. Probably a bit irrational and I know there is not much I can do until my post Tx PET in early October, but was wondering if anyone had any experiences/thoughts to share.

Thanks.

Jasper

Your dry mouth could lead to a throat irritation which could cause the cough.

I had a cough for a couple of days right after treatment. It went away on it's own. But I remember it hurting every time I coughed. However sneezing was far worst.

Good luck with getting off the PEG. For me, that was the first best day of recovery. Except for the one minute of auful pain when the doc yanked it out.

Push yourself to get real food down. You will feel a whole lot better when you get food cals up and corn surup and oil cals down.

I've got something of a persistent cough now, been going on for most of this year, and I'm 4+ years out of treatment. My ENT says it's just something I'll have to live with. As my fellow David says, sometimes things just get dry in there. One more wonderful gift. But considering the alternative, I'll take it!

At 10 weeks it could also be thicker phlegm sliding down your throat exacerbated by weakened swallow muscles from radiation damage. Keep well hydrated, add some guafenesin and spit it put often.

Thanks for the responses all. Your rational input helps as I am understandably hyper sensitive to any potential issue and this is one of those given it as hung around for awhile. I agree David2, I will take it and live with it if it is a by-product of the treatment or dry throat.
