His breathing has gotten much heavier and while he is not struggling for air according to him, it sure sounds like it. He can't do much at all other than watch TV and sleep and his speech is much worse. He has what appears like a blister on his leg, almost like a burn mark. Is this normal?
He has made it clear that he does not want a treach(sp) put in if his breathing gets worse. Is there anything that can make him more confortable?

They can do an initial consult and give you advice on the various options for making him feel most comfortable. best to you, don

I would have a dr. Look at it.if he's not moving it could be a pressure sore. These can lead to infection. With regards to the breathing : I'm Canadian, live in Toronto. was your dad ever seen at PMH? He should have been, sometimes you have to push for what you are entitled to. I don't know your dads history but PMH may have services offered that you can't get at sunnybrook. They also have cancer related palliative services that are unmatched - seriously - my good friend ended up there after her local hospital told her to go home and die - not only did she live another year, the extra medical stuff she had to have done (she needed to have her abdomen drained bi weekly..l etc..) was done much more efficiently and less painfully than where she had been treated, they also had a clinical trial she participated in. That said, if its not a change you are ale to make your dad is entitled to up to 7 hours of in home nursing care daily I believe : ask for a referral to the CCaC - they will monitor his pain and do any other medical stuff that needs doing, including bathing, meds, and dressings. Hugs, and I'm sorry you are all facing this.
