All of us on this forum that have been through or in some way touched by "The Journey" freely inform others about early detection, the connection to saving lives, or improving quality of life. So with that being said, after six years living cancer free I have been diagnosed with Malignant Squamous Cell, this time on the left lateral side of tongue.
I had went in for a deep clean of back molars mid-February, returning for a follow up two weeks later. In those two weeks a small lesion appeared. I told the hygienist it possibly was a scrape of my tongue against my teeth as it happens all the time and I can't feel it, but we took no chances, thank God! The in-house oral surgeon took a biopsy and it returned positive. All in a couple of weeks! Thank Goodness for early detection and proactive Dental care providers!
My wife and I have conferred with my surgeon and he feels very positive about resolving this through surgery since it has been caught so early, however he wants scans to ensure he knows what he's up against and that it's pretty well isolated. While discussing a plan he even commented about how far the dental profession has come in finding issues early and expediting treatment! He is an awesome Dr. and I feel I'm in very good hands. Therefore, I am scheduled for scans on Tuesday and already scheduled for surgery Thursday.
Prayers and good thoughts are welcomed!

Thank you all! I'm ready for tomorrow to get here! Starting to really feel that familiar drag and burn. Everything is going to be fine, I truly believe that. I appreciate the thoughts and prayers.

Steve
