In Canada, I was referred to an oral surgeon by my dentist, and it was the surgeon who sent me to the ENT who was a specialist on oral cancer surgery.

I was lucky, I got "the guy" smile

Chemo/rad on hold due to clear margins and nodes
Sept 21/13 clear CT with anomaly thought to be the artery, being watched closely.
Dec 16/13 - anomaly confirmed artery, all clear

Uk Is socialized medicine, like Canada's since we're originally a British colony chances are the referral system is similar.
