Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 126 | I ate cream of wheat with lots of butter pretty much every day towards the end, it was the only thing that I seemed to be able to get down.
With regards to the ginger ale, I actually found flat ginger ale really helpful towards the end for the thick saliva/mucus. I would let it sit out for about a day and then swish it around in my mouth and spit out to clear out some of the gunk. Everyone handles things differently, so some stuff you just have to try and see how it goes!

Just for the record, Bill never vomited and never complained of nausea so I guess there is some chance that you won't have this.

Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 118 | Myhusband couldn't handle anything sweet while chemo and rad were happening. Nothing fizzy either. I used to open a 7-up and let it sit on the counter long enough for the fiz to be gone and squeeze lemon juice to cut the sweetness. This was his go to when he was nausious.

Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 5,260 Likes: 3 | Vaporizer, wipey things, flattened club soda (the equivalent of the baking soda mixture but you can swallow it), a good skin cream, protein powder (to add to formula and drinks), prescriptions up front - for pain ... Ensure or boost or whatever in terms of formula. I want to say a too cuz I love mine!  Good luck!

The Ontario drug benefit plan may cover it, if you have that available to you but I would look to work insurance to cover it instead if you get a prescription for it. I only used it for a few weeks then I switched to homemade smoothies. Cheaper and healthier.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.
