Besides the support of my family there are few things I've done and am doing to help me deal and just plain get up in the morning. One major thing that has helped is my pets. I have 4 dwarf hamsters and by doing so very little they can do so very much to raise my spirits. And by knowing that they depend on me it's one those reasons I have stashed away when I'm having a difficult morning and need that extra push. I still live at home so for as silly as this is going to sound when I'm in my room, which I tend to, I'm never alone. Another thing I found helpful is tv on DVD. Somedays I just don't want to get out of bed or I can't. So I pop in some tv on DVD. Lately it's been true blood. This way I get caught up and it's longer than a movie. And true blood is especially helpful because most people on the show aren't eating food. What do you do?

You have hit the best way of coping: caring for others. When you know that a person or pet depends on you, you can cope. This is the roughest patch right now you are going through. You are young and already healing. It will get better and better. Of course, I'm a big advocate of medical MJ also to cope. Obviously the OCF forum is also a great source of help in coping but so is helping the research on us like the Moffitt survey that Christine has provided us the opportunity to take Moffitt Cancer patient/ caregiver survey My wife had an "ahhhh moment when I showed her your hamster comments - we both got it. Keep the Faith . Don't get burned at the stake (couldn't help myself) Charm

As far as coping is concerned, Im trying as hard as I can. So much had changed since this horrible disease came back for the 3rd time. Ive had to give up my job, give my beloved horse away, have my twenty two year relationship with my man end and in two weeks Ill be moving back to MA to live with my sister. Everything is just falling apart. At least when Im back north Ill be with my family and I am grateful for that.

I've always collected records. We have a record player in the house but it doesn't belong to me and I was only allowed to snag it once. It only took that one time to get hooked on the sound. Well, fast forward probably 5 years later and a gross amount of records later my boyfriend surprised me with my own record player. There is nothing more relaxing than putting on an "old" record and just letting it play. I don't have to talk or try to explain things with my hands. The music just speaks to me and wants nothing more than for me to sit down and enjoy with the occasional flipping of sides. It's funny how some things can just raise your spirits. I've been blessed to receive many gifts since this happened but this gift really seemed to make a difference.

When I went over to Perth to stay with my brother and his family at the start of his treatment, we went through all available Madmen series.
He has also gone through 7 series of the Sopranos, and I'm taking over all the old Brit series of Upstairs Downstairs when I go over again in 10 days. I've got his kids going through all the Merlin series.
TV series are distracting because you really get into the ongoing storyline and characters. It can offer some respite from the constant worry. Any port in a storm !!
