Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | Geez this seems like forever to happen. One thing for sure is Christine and her faithfullness to OCF. She is one fantastic lady for sure. Thanks buddy for taking care of me on here. I am home or at my daughters for a few hrs for Thanksgiving day and washing clothes. Then it's back to the Hospital which id more like a meat locker than a place to relax. Too cold to sleep and I kep getting into it with the Rns and staff. They seem to think my mind musy=t be gone. LOL That didn't last long and I had to inform them that I am there for the anti-biotics I can't afford otherwise. I'm still alive and kickin and can ask for no more from my amgels. Love all of you and hope your Holidays were the best ever. Ole Jim Thanks for all of the cards and I can't believe how many.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

I am presuming the antibiotics have done their job and you are soon having the surgery? I always need an extra blanket in hospital and they heat them so I hope you get the same when you ask. 14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad.
6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012.
bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia
24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.
1/31/16 passed away peacefully surrounded by family

Joined: May 2010 Posts: 638 | Hey Jim Maybe the hospital is trying to preserve you?  In Singapore right now - 32 degrees which I think is over 90 degrees F and about 99% humidity. What am a wearing? a knitted short sleeve jumper, jeans, my suit jacket and the socks I got on the plane on the way over. It's FREEZING indoors! Glad to hear they let gave you a day pass, hopefully the surgery isn't too far away. Also glad you managed to sort the nurses out regarding your mental capabilities. Karen

So good to hear from you! Happy Thanksgiving, too. I am glad that you had the day to get away from the hospital and spend it with your family. When Clark was in the hospital, he was always cold, too, and he had me turn up the thermostat. That and a few extra blankets kept him toasty.

Hope you can get warmed up some back at the hospital. Ask the nurses for some of those long socks and put a couple pair on. You should also have some fuzzy ear muffs, fuzzy wooly hat, sweater and mittens. Then, ask somebody to take your picture. And post it on FaceBook! It's so good to hear from you, - and Christine has been really great with giving us your updates!

Ex-spouse MISDIAGNOSED with SCC-HN IVa 12/10. Tonsils out 1/11. 4 teeth out 2/11. TX Erbitux x2, IMRT x2 2/11. 2nd opinion-benign BCC-NOT CANCER 3/11. TX stopped 3/11. New doctors 4/11. ENT agrees with 2nd opinion 5/11. ENT scoped him-all clear 7/11. Ordered MRI anyway. MRI 8/22/11 Result-all clear.
