Don't know if any of you have tried this but my husband has found some relief with Adolph's Meat Tenderizer. Sounds nuts but it breaks up the protein that produces the mucus. Was recommended by our radiation doc in a handout. He puts a few shakes in water, swishes and gargles. It is really helping. He reduced his spitting by 50%. Try it if you dare. Your tongue will be very tender (hahahahaha)
Seriously he sees a difference. Get the unflavored.

It would be wonderful if this were the answer!
So to my dumb questions: Does it have to be that brand? And if so, what is in it that makes it work? Alex and I are in Australia and I don't know if we have Adolph. Ellen, any chance of asking the doctor which of the ingredients make this work and is it common to all meat tenderisers?

That thing can clear out a lot of mucous in record time. Just bend over the sink and try not to look!
Good Luck.

If you have a cure for evening break out pain that meds don't help you will continue to be on my hero list. Well you are anyway, this tip has made a huge difference! When we are in the car it even helps to take sips of the mixture.

The only thing that worked for my hubby is to come and get me so that I could massage his temples. I learned it from my massage therapist. She said that there are receptors there that align with the nerves near the SCC. I massage his temples and then also his forehead very gently. Make small gentle circles toward the chin. Worked for us.
