Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | I have to be at the UPMC Montifore Hospital at 5 AM Friday morning. I am 1st in line for surgery at 7AM. That is Friday the 28th of this month. They kust asked the standard type questions as all do. The girl just had trouble believing I have had so many different surgeries. On my discharge papers from last mounth it says I had Parkinsons and trouble with alcohol. Hell I don't even drink a beer. She told me it was removed the day I called them about it. I'm taking a laptop but might not be able to use it. Have a great weekend all.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Anyway... seriously... you'll get through it with the strength at which you tackled everything else... hugs... heal well and quickly.

I know Docs like to do early sugeries when they are ontime but man I hated that 5am that we had to do that time with Ron and bam at 7am he was out of the prep room, I'm like hey do you see me sitting here? Is he going now? I got to see him for like 2-3 mins but he said he sat in a hallway for a bit of a while before he went into the surgerical room, he could have sat with me a bit longer and his surgery didn't start til after 9 is when I got the text. Who knows what they have to do maybe his doc had to go potty or something lol

7/1/11 - L-Selective neck dissection. Tonsillectomy. All clean. No rad, no chemo.
5/29/13 - Found primary
7/3/13 - TORS
7/8/13 - Emergency Surgery/Blood vessel burst in throat
8/9/13 - Peg in
9/3/13 - Radiation starts 30 IMRT, 60gy BOT, 56gy both sides of neck
10/14/13 - Radiation ended!
11/12/13 - PEG out!

Pittsburgh can get overcrouded fast and stay that way all day. It's a lot closer than Aurora but your area is more fun. Seems we have a lot of we Buckeyes in here. You , me and Mike for sure plus I know there are more.

37 y/o fem at Dx (23 wks preg @ dx on 3/16/11)
SCC L oral tongue (no risk factors)
L partial gloss/MND 3/28/11 @ 25 wks preg
T1-2N0M0; no rads/chemo
Tonsillectomy on 8/6/12 +SCC L tonsil T2-3N1M0 (HPV-)
Treated with 35 rads/7 carbo & taxol (Rx ended 10/31/12), but many hospitalizations d/t complications from rx.
Various scans since rx ended are NED!
Part of genetic study for rare cancers @ MGH.
44 years old now...I wasn't sure I would make it! Hoping for 40 more!
