Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 48 | how long will it take for my tongue to stop buzzing from rad? i know everybody is different. could you chime in with your experiences and how long it took you. it has been 5 weeks out of rad.
dx mucoideperdermoid stage 1 .9cm tumor removed from
lower left tongue 5-3-11 rad 5-31-11 till 8-10-11 three weeks off in june 9 days in hospital healing mouth from radiation burns. 33 days of radiation.wife is caregiver
peg tube july 7-11 age 59 male.

Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 5,260 Likes: 3 | Hmm... Well my tongue is still funny but I have a reconstruct. I am beginning to taste more and more though. It's still sensitive to spicy foods and hot foods - and there is still no sweet taste!

Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 5,260 Likes: 3 | 4 full months! But it's a slow process  things are getting better though! It'll happen for you too it's still very early in the healing process for you. Some people here are doing remarkably well with taste only a month or so out but I think that has a lot to do with where the radiation is focused if you get the bulk of it on your tongue then it may take longer for your buds to recover ( mine was directly to the tongue!) take care & give your body time to heal.
