I saw the Gray's Anatomy story and the short segment on CBS Sunday Morning. I am just so happy that ANYTHING about oral cancer was discussed on tv.

Knowledge is power! And a little knowledge can go a long way ... especially if the tv shows encourage people to ask their dentists about "that funny sore" on their tongue ...

This is not meant to sound trivial, but in UK we are on Season 3 of Grey's. I can't find anything on the website relating to the show you're talking about.
Are we a long way behind you??

Bren did you see the local news on BBC today?
Main story was about a 49 year old man who was diagnosed with oral and naso pharyngeal cancer. He had his nose ,his lip and the roof of his mouth removed, then chemo and rads .
The story was about the "false face" the prosthetics boffins had made for him as well as about the aggressive form of cancer he had.I have to say he looked incredible .the prosthesis even had a five 'clock shadow on the top lip,and you could only see it when he was in profile where the cheeks were not quite aligned.
What a great and brave man to appear on television and spread the word about mouth cancer to so many.
A picture is worth a thousand words eh?

had the oppty to see levon helm this weekend and talk with the photographer who shot some recent pics of him. he sounds great for what he went through, his energy is what amazed me in 100 degree heat. he did take a major hit from the the rads which i saw in the pics, heartbreaking, but inspiring.
