That the Internal Meds doc didn't know what it is. She made him an apt again with his ENT dr for Monday...he said it looks like a puss sack. Could the thrush cause maybe an infection in the flap? She did give him "some kind of medication" he said for the thrush, do you think he could read what it said? Sheesh, and thank God my oldest daughters friend we have known for 23 yrs worked there and took care of Ron to make apt time and date for him, she has been over the house so she can understand him he was so happy for that! Any body been thru this by chance?

At this early stage in recovery your PCP should either be (in order of preference):

Medical Oncologist or

ENT or

Head & Neck Surgeon.

I wouldn't waste my time and money going to GP's - they just don't have the skills for what requires a specialist.

Yep, totally agree with Gary. "Generally" speaking GP's are like the special education kids of the medical field...no disrespect...OK maybe a little to the GP's.

I mean I really like my GP as a person, My wife and I spent New Years with him and his wife doing Karaoke wars at a party, but if I had anything important I wanted checked out I'm heading to a specialist especially if it's related to cancer and treatment etc...

I was told by his ENT receptionist that he was to go to the Internal Meds doc for what we thought was thrush again. If this is something more that you better believe I'm gonna call and bitch her out for wasting days and time by going to the Internal Meds doc. Ron is going totay @ 10am he fears it's cancer again, but the IM doc she called his ENT and they both said that it is unlikely it's cancer cuz he just saw his ENT on the 23rd and that cancer doesn't show up this fast. ? We will see today now it the waiting game...

thanks and all is well, it's a burn...he burnt his flap i guess and he don't know how or what it is from. If it was from radiation that was done back in August the doc would have said something right? he got a mouthwash for it and he told me "baby when this is healed I'm am gonna EAT! I am soooo hungry!" And he was just starting to eat good too with the chili and crackers. He asked doc if it could be chemicals too like his pain pills he drinks...he don't know. So hopefully this mouthwash will make it go away.

well it's not a burn! lol omg going to the internal meds doc cuz that's what the ENT said to do his ENT apt was 10am but @ 3pm or so I got a call from his IM Doc and the girl didn't understand that I was the one to speak to cuz i have power of attorney and she and i got into it on the phone because she didn't want to listen to me so I hung up on her! I hate stupid people, so they ended up calling Ron's 77 yr old mom...which when she gets a call from the Cleveland Clinic she freaks out, like she needs that and the broad called my house and Ron was sleeping and his mom called too so he heard the messages on the phone and he got up and tried to call the docs office and by the time the person on the phone understood what he was saying and put him through to the docs office they were closed. So...you know I called that office this morning! Talked to a very nice lady WHO listened to what I was saying instead of trying to argue with me like the idiot yesterday! She finally saw that I was able to be told what the doc found out with the culture(which i had no clue they took til Ron told me yesterday!) and she was very apologetic about the lady yesterday. So...it IS a yeast infection! BUT he did get a script from ENT for Magic Mouthwash finally! So he has to continue with the Nystatin. Yay lets get this cleared up cuz he wants to EAT!

I think I would find a new ENT. John's ENT ALWAYS fits him in somewhere and has the nicest office staff. He is in with 5 other doctors so it is a big practice but they always return calls and don't take things casually when he calls. John's ENT diagnosed John's cancer and is ALWAYS there for him. There are to many doctors out there to be treated the way you have been. John hasn't been to our GP in over two years right before he was diagnosed. Glad you finally got the right diagnosis and meds.

it wasn't the ENT office it was the Internal Meds office. But his ENT said it was a burn and not worried about it but the IM dr she did a culture where she found it was a yeast infection. Who knows. As long as he gets better he has the Nystatin to finish up.

I have had a flap for 8 years and burned it several times with pizza, etc. No feeling in the flap. Looks angry but heals in a couple of weeks. Really little different than a skin burn. Recently had a bump the size of a candy corn.. Was a granuloma caused by my Crohn's disease. Rarely a flap gets cancer.

Good luck and find an ENT or your surgeon to go to.
