Just joining this thread and haven't read anything but perhaps you have an Active X Control block. Look at the near top of your screen for a narrow horizontal band that will tell you this and if that's the case clicking on the x on the far right will allow the link to be completed.

I was going to mention Active X (I edited that out of my original post) but I am 99% sure its an Adobe Flashplayer issue. The people having problems have probably never downloaded it. Those of us who watch a lot of video content have to have it. It does not come with Windows and is a free download. Many video content providers prefer it and for many applications is superior to Windows Media Player.

The downside is, if you own an Apple computer or iPad, Apple won't release their code so that Adobe can develop an Apple version. Some video content providers will provide both Quicktime (Apples video media player) and Flashplayer, so you would never know that you have video viewer problem until you encountered a Flashplayer only video content provider. This is also why some You Tube videos won't open on iPhones or iPads (which I have both).

Correction: I was able to open it on my Macbook and iPad - just not the iphone. The iPhone gave a message "download the latest version of Adobe Flashplayer" -of which there is none for the iphone.

I'm semi-literate when it comes to computers. I have all the Adobe stuff. I have no clue what's causing this, but since I updated Adobe & Acrobat Reader, my computer has been acting funky. I can't open a pdf online - it saves it to my desktop; then I can open it. Which is better than not being able to open it at all, which is what happened before I uninstalled & reinstalled Adobe.

Sorry about going so far off topic...

Marlene

Last time to waste time (unless someone has a solution):O)

I use Mozilla Firefox instead of IE. It doesn't support Active X. It uses plugins & flash. Mine are up-to-date.

You shouldn't need ActiveX with Firefox. It might be your antivirus software or go to the link I gave you and insure that you have the latest version of Adobe Flashplayer. Myabe Brian can help you - he's a Firefox guy I use IE myself (on the PC) or iPad, OS10.

It could also just be a Firefox glitch, especially considering the issues with Adobe. I've had it myself several times after updating either Firefox or Adobe. One way to find out is to just open IE and try the link. Try Firefox support/help. I had to go in and delete some files per firefox's instructions.
So frustrating, I miss DOS.

Oh Charm, DOS???

I'm using Firefox on a Mac and obviously had no trouble with the link. No idea why its not working for others.

Yep, DOS. I'm old and I was a whiz at Edlin Editor but I hate trying to clean out Windows Registry errors.
I had no trouble with this link using Firefox either but I like having two browsers so I can be sure if it's a browser issue.
Thanks again for sharing that interview

I'm using a MAC and checked the link both in Firefox and in Safari, it works well in both. I think this is a Flash piece......

Back in fifth grade, I think, I learned Basic... those were the days, I tell ya!

And you're very welcome. I really admire Mr. Ebert and his willingness to put himself out there.
