Shar,
I seriously cannot believe that you were so careless as to have lost part of your cervix!!!---TUT!!
Hey, after 5 kids, thank goodness they've removed what caused them!!
But don't think you're gonna get over this quickly, and don't try to---OKAY????
Keep the kids on track looking after mom, call in every friend and relative you have, put the biopsy on hold til you feel ready.

Take the pain meds and 'float' for however long it takes.

Think about where the pain is coming from--and take steps to get rid of him if necessary!! Sorry, but I know from past experience that stuff doesn't go away!

At least you've still got your ovaries = hormones......hmmm-can't decide if this is a good or bad thing (am sure glad to be rid of mine!)--goood thing probably as you're young and can have 'another life'!

Look after yourself and let others look after you, so pleased to have you posting again!

Jeez, Sending wishes along with everyonbe else, Sharlee, that you give yourself plenty of time to rest and recuperate after this. I had a friend that had a total hysterectomy several years ago (about 14) and maybe they are not as bad these days, but she was mostly off her feet for 5 or 6 weeks as I recall. I can relate about the being done with operations feeling. Hopefully, you'll have years ahead with no major medical treatments of any sort after all this (I am hoping that for myself too)!

Glad you sound so good, Shar. Lemme tell you...nobody needs a uterus at this point in life. It's just a big pain, so good riddance to it! You didn't need a big surgery right now, though, so I sympathize with you. After many c-sections, I know exactly what you are feeling. Make sure that you breathe deeply as often as you can, and that will help prevent coughing. If you need to cough, either lean belly-first onto a pillow on a bed and cough or have someone gently/firmly hold a pillow over your belly so you can cough against the pillow and not against your stitches. It's the best advice I ever had for that type of surgery. Other than that, take care of yourself and don't expect to bounce back right away. Give your body a break!

XO

BTW--I, too, am curious about where your cervix went!! You are a medical marvel, a medical mystery-girl!

.....and you know what?? If you don't have a cervix, or a uterus, you can't get cancer there! I find that to be a great comfort! You still need to get checked since you still have ovaries, but some of your risk has been removed. Yippee!

LOL

I know that is what I said ..WOHOOO 2 less places for cancer ..specially since I have family history of cancer in those area's !! As far as where the cervix went ..I didn' get a straight answer, dr said it could have been lacerated during childbirth..But wouldnt someone have noticed or even noticed it as gone after the fact during pap smears ?

I asked the clinician I worked with at Planned Parenthood that question when she came to see me the other day and she said the cervix changes in looks after childbirth, so depending on where or what part was actually missing , they may not have noticed. ONLY ME I SWEAR !!LOL the strangest and most unusual things happen to me .

I am trying to acccept that it will be a bit before I can DO things..BUT you know how it is being a mom ..an being I just went through everything and wasn't capable..I just got back to "NORMAL" ( somewhat anyhow) and now I am on bed rest again ..UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH and this time more so , Last time I could at leasr get up and walk around and I could go to store and bend over ..not that I had tons of energy or wanted to even ..but this time ..Not really even possible..I do get up and walk around house a bit ..BUT I wouldn't even try to go to store right now..It hasn't even been a week yet so I need to relax ..It takes time I know ..LoL

I am sooo impatient. tomorrow is one week and Dr says 6-8 ..I stil have 20 staples in me LOL... I know I know RELAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX...

Shar, When my friend went through this she was young like you and had the same problem with the idea of 6-8 weeks of recovery--especially having to be off her feet a lot of the time.

All of her friends donated videos from our collections for her to watch--she was a real movie buff anyway--to help her through it. She watched about 50-60 movies in those 6 weeks I think, but at least it gave her something to do. Maybe if you're a movie lover that might be a help for you. I imagine it is very hard being a mom of 5 and getting enough rest right now.

Shar,
If you can, please rely on family help to get you through and take care of yourself or something else will happen to you. You must just step up and take care of yourself sometimes. It will pay off in the longrun. I know you have really been through quite a lot. Your good day is coming though. Hang in there and keepup your sense of humor.
Admiring your courage,
Debbie
