Susan/59/nonsmoker /tonsil cancer spread to tongue,stage III diagnosed 6/10, HPV+ T3,N1 Finished 35 radiation and 7 cisplatin 9/7/10.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April. --- Passed away 5/14/14, will be greatly missed by everyone here

Like other posters have said listening to music can be helpful. I took my own CD's since my therapist provided a CD player for us. I think I listened to the same songs each time that way I new when it was almsost over each day. I also counted to the beams and each time the machine moved so I knew when I was almost done. Once I got a little more "comfortable" I was actually able to stay still and it did not take as long.
