Joined: May 2009 Posts: 1,412 | Teresa, Ijust want to tell you that you are a wonderful caregiver. I know i have lashed out at my husband some and he doesn't stand for it he lashes right back. I know it is difficult for you to watch him hurt like that. I know that you being patient with him will help a lot. Trust me, I wish mine were as patient. Anyway, You all can do it. I know it!!!

Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 8,311 | My wife told me (thankfully) after I was well out of my tunnel that she would go downstairs or sit in her car and cry just so I wouldn't see her. Man with all the stuff I was going through, that would have just made things mentally worse for me. Besides there was nothing I could have done to make her feel less like crying anyway!

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

Yeah, my wife/caregiver wouldn't let me see her cry either. She would wait until I was prostate on the couch in the living room and when she would go downstairs to feed our rabbit and let him out to play, she would cry and cry and our rabbit would lick up all her tears from her face. Like David, I did not find this out until after TX. You women are all amazing here at OCF.
My radiation treatments got extended from 8 weeks to 10 weeks and I know how frustrating it is to you both. Keep the Faith, you can both get through this.
