We cannot diagnose anything so if you have a white spot in your mouth that hasn't gone away after 2 weeks or so you should go to your dentist and ask them to look at it. If it turns out to be something, which I hope it isn't, you have found a great group of people. Hopefully you won't have to come back here.

Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,219 | There are many reasons why you could have a white area in the retromolar area, one of which could be cancer. The only way to be sure is a biopsy, so it would be a good idea to follow Suzanne's advice and go to a dentist. An oral surgeon would certainly be able to do a biopsy if needed whereas a general dentist might want to refer you anyway.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

That is where my cancer was. I would go to a oral surgeon instead of a dentist and if it's been there longer then two weeks I would make the appointment as soon as you are able.
