I was ticked off too that after decades of healthy eating and exercise and no smoking, my husband got cancer.
His siblings were battling multiple health problems while downing pizza and perogies.

The doctor explained his healthy eating and lifestyle is WHY he had such a good response to treatment and is doing so well. A genetic marker predisposed to possible cancer was in the family. You can't choose your relatives.

Ain't that the truth. I suppose I should have started this post in my "don't you just hate it" thread on the anger and coping forum (can you believe that has gotten over 4,000 views?)but I wanted to see if my experience was somewhat typical of the OCF board. Certainly sounds like it has been. More and more I am questioning the impact of diet and nutrition on head and neck cancer. It is certainly looking to me that unlike many other cancers, it is a question of genetics and environmental poisons, and of course HPV. Thanks for sharing.
