Most people come right to the forum and forget all about the main pages. There is update date news articles and tons of other useful info there too.
If you are currently able to eat, do it up now. Your sense of taste will change and it will be a while before your eating gets back to normal.

I even went to the store one day not long ago and got the butcher to cut me some of the good pork fat so i could maybe taste more than the fisrt bit of pork grease LOL. Just one taste was good but that was like a banquet to me. No teeth but can gum it if Iraoll it up large enought to mash with my tongue and the roof of my mouth. Good luck with the treatments.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

My chemo was 3 strong doses of cisplatin. It didnt hit me til a week later then look out, I was sick! My thrid round got cancelled due to being so ill from the chemo and radiation.
How often is your chemo?

David R. 65 yr old male non-smoker, light drinker, stage 3 or 4, depending on which doc you ask, scc rt. tonsil, 2 nodes, 7 weeks radiation and chemo. No surgery. Teatment ended 3/20/08. PET scan 8/08 showed no cancer.
And now, as of oct, 2010, caregiver to wife, Linda, with breast cancer.
May, 2013, Linda diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Enuf already.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 31 | Well I'm starting RAD today. Anyway I'm feeling better , had some steak yesterday. The worst so far is the acid reflux which interferes with sleeping, do you just take anti-acids? Constipation is also a problem.
If someone can confirm that to list the DX profile that you all include under your post I go to my profile and list it in the signature box?

Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 71 | That's right on the signature. You will also find there is character limit. You might try some prilosec OTC for the reflux. It may take a few days to work. Also, don't eat before going to bed.
They gave me drugs to take before chemo and after that were supposed to alleviate this problem. I never had any nausea or reflux.

I, too, had acid reflux the day after my first chemo treatment. Didn't have nausea until the third treatment, but the heartburn was pretty bad since the beginning. Prilosec sounds like a good idea (I have tried Pepcid AC with moderate success). As for the constipation, that's par for the course -- try Miralax.
