Hello all. I was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the right lateral tongue three years ago. I had a right partial glossectomy, a saliendectomy and a modified right neck dissection. All margins were clean. This December I noticed a lump again and had a excisional biopsy on 12/31/08. The cancer is back. I had my fourth of 25 intensity modulated radiation treatments (IMRT) and my first of 3 cisplatin treatments. The plan is to follow that course and then have a temporary seed implant to finish everything off. The doctors are hopeful and I feel like a deer starring into headlights. Also, the tumor is larger and deeper this time, already 2.5 or so cm and at the base of the oral tongue. I wish all of you peace and well being. Sincerely, Jay Lenhart/Pittsburgh, PA
