Well, finally had my appointment with the plastic surgeon yesterday. The growth is a keratoacanthoma (try saying that five times fast). I guess there has been some debate over the years as to whether or not these are malignant, but modern thinking seems to be that they are a low grade malignancy similar to a SCC. He has seen hundreds of them, and will remove it in two weeks. He sees no long term issues.

As Roseanne Rosanna Danna used to say on SNL "You know, its always something . . . " ;-)
