Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 3,552 | I had the maximum amount of radiation and my taste buds started returning to normal within a few months. Sslt was the first and sweets were last - It took over a year before I could enjoy sweets again. Some people, unfortunately, never get their taste buds back or at least where they were pre Tx. The IMRT helped a lot. it also took over 1 1/2 years for the salivary glands to make a full recovery.
