Hi Cath......There isn't a single person that I have talked to that didnt have problems with their thyroid after radiation. If you suspect you're having trouble with your thyroid just have your GP do the blood work necessary to determine if your thyroid is even fuctioning at any level. If it isn't, and I suspect it isn't, your GP will prescribe synthroid for you, which like floride, you will take the rest of your life. Good luck! SIncerely, Donna


SCC first time 1989, with a diagnoses of 'cancer in situ' removed lesion, no other treatments.
SCC recurrence 1997 of tongue and floor of the mouth. Stage III /IV Hemmiglossectomy (removed over 60% of tongue/ floor of the mouth), free flap, modified neck, RAD and Chemo(cisplatin, 5fu) simutainously.
Cancer free 6, yes, six, years!
