Welcome to OCF, Roger! Hopefully this spot is nothing serious and you wont need our group, but if you do we are here to help. Our site is made up of oral cancer patients/survivors and caregivers. We can help you with info and support only thru our own experiences or what we have learned here. Our members do not have medical backgrounds or years of schooling to be able to give you any idea of what your photos show. Even medical professionals need a biopsy to tell for certain what they are dealing with. Sure, they can give you an educated guess by looking but only with a biopsy will the docs be able to give you a definitive answer.

We have a saying around here... If you have a sore in your mouth that does not heel within 2 or 3 weeks on its own then its time to get examined by a professional. The "spot" could be any number of things other than cancer so hopefully the test results will come back with something that isnt anything serious. Here is a link for some informative reading material about discovery/diagnosis. The second link is a photo gallery of what OC tumors look like and some other mouth sores that arent as serious. You will see by looking thru the photos how difficult it is to tell what things are just by looking.

Waiting on results is the worst!!! Try to stay super busy while waiting. This will help to keep your mind from worrying too much and the "what if" way of thinking. Worrying isnt helpful for any patient, it just causes them extra unneeded stress.

Wishing you all the very best with this!!!
