Hello Christine, I also want to welcome you . I am so sorry that you are worried again, worried as to whether it is a recurrence or not. Fighting this more than once is so difficult, it's such a long road. Other people have no comprehension of what is involved. As 1 caregiver to another, you are doing a wonderful job.
We have been through our own recurrence and Salvage Surgery. Last year Kris developed a "sore" on his tongue flap. It sent that awful dreaded wave of cold over my body. I was terrified that it had reared its head again. We Had it biopsied the following day by our ENT. It turned out to be just an ulcer. So , you dont know what this is, go and get it biopsied and I hope you get the same results we got.

PET 6/11 clear.
R) level 2-4 neck dissection 8/1/11 to remove residual node - necrotic with NED
Feb '12 Ca back.. 3/8/12 total glossectomy/laryngectomy/bilat neck dissection/partial pharyngectomy etc. clear margins. All nodes negative for disease. PEG in.
March 2017 - 5 years disease free. Woohoo!
