Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 1,024 | Hi Sweetpe, yes if the report says questionable margins it means that there may be some residual cancer cells that were not removed by the surgery.
I would talk to your radiation Oncologist about the ear pain. This could well be due to the radiation but you should mention it. Also so that he can give your Mum adequate pain relief.

R) level 2-4 neck dissection 8/1/11 to remove residual node - necrotic with NED
Feb '12 Ca back.. 3/8/12 total glossectomy/laryngectomy/bilat neck dissection/partial pharyngectomy etc. clear margins. All nodes negative for disease. PEG in.
March 2017 - 5 years disease free. Woohoo!
