Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 3,552 | I'm not so sure it's common in cancer patients. I had shingles numerous times pre cancer and surprisingly it didn't reappear during or after treatment. It's another one of those virus mystery things. It prefers weakened immune systems. The treatment I had beat the snot out of me - I lost over 61 lbs.
